Toe Tag Mysteries is the brain child of Dana Adams (aka. Flo) and Jeannette Holverson. Friends for 25 years, we began writing murder mysteries for our annual Halloween party. Word got out when friends started using our games to throw their own parties.
Each game starts with a theme – a time period with outrageous characters and sporting costumes. We expanded the theme to bring in humor and intrigue. Most importantly, we want an evening filled with good friends, delicious food and a lot of laughter. We love creating the characters, writing the plot and solution. Also, watching people connect the dots using their clues is a lot of fun. With Dana’s degree in history, she researches the time periods that we write about. Jeannette has a background in interior design and creates the set design for the parties.
Dana’s favorite part of the game is the use of the Shot Box. Seeing all of our friends gathered around a draw box with their gun props trying to shoot each other is the highlight of the party. Hearing someone shout out, “Misfire, I just shot myself in the foot” makes all the planning and preparation worth it.
Jeannette’s favorite part of the game is the big event. Every game features an interactive event that brings all the guests together for a common cause. For example, one game has an auction. Bidding wars break out and guests are pitted against each other. The auction items can be used to trade, sell, bribe or pay off a blackmailer. Anything can happen at these events.
